Core Truths & About The Author

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Paula Moody

I was given my first Bible when I was eight years old. Since then, I have had many hard-copy Bibles in many different translations. I have had audio Bibles – cassette tapes and CDs. Now I have a Bible app on my phone with many translations and study aids. What’s the big deal with the Bible, you might ask? I will share my testimony.

Over the last fifty-plus years, the Bible has been my go-to place for comfort, counsel, encouragement, instruction, hope, correction, and the knowledge of God’s unconditional love for me. God has made us thousands of promises – each one stated or described in the Bible. It is not a single book but a library of books, sixty-six of them. It is divided into the Old Testament and the New Testament. It includes history, poetry, prophesy, personal letters, and descriptions of the earthly life of the Author of Life, Jesus Christ. The depth and scope of this collection of books awe me.

The most precious truth about the Bible to me is that it is alive. The words impart life to the person who reads or hears with faith. These words are not just ink on paper or sounds from vocal cords on an audio recording. These words live and breathe the life of God. These life-giving words of God heal me, instruct me, correct me, cheer me, validate me, … in real-time. Unlike the dusty old tome, some think it is, I can query Holy Spirit about a current problem or question I have, and He is faithful to lead me to the passage or passages that provide wisdom for the situation. I have 24/7 365 access to the wisdom of the Ancient of Days.

This blog is called Truth42day or Truth for Today. I hope to share the mercy and loving–kindness of God with those who need to hear about it. I also hope to encourage blog readers to become Bible readers themselves.

CORE TRUTHS

The Bible

The Bible, Old Testament and New Testament, Genesis through Revelation, is God’s Word to humanity. The original manuscripts were written in Hebrew (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament) by men wholly inspired by Holy Spirit and have been translated into many, many languages and forms. Because of Holy Spirit’s complete involvement and supervision in the writing and organization of the Bible, it is inerrant, infallible, and authoritative.
2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21, John 1:1

God the Father

God the Father was active in the earth in the Old Testament. He has many names, each name describing an aspect of His Person to humanity. His personal name is “YHWH,” often translated as “Jehovah or “ Yahweh.” He is known by His Own as “Father” or “Abba” (Papa). He is always only good. There is only light in Him, no darkness. He has always existed. He is omnipotent (all powerful), omniscient (all knowing) and omnipresent (always everywhere at once). He is the Creator of all things.
Gen. 1:1; Ex. 3:16; Rom. 8:14-16; Rev. 19:6; 1 John 3:20; Eph. 1:23

God the Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit has been active in the earth since Jesus’ ascension to heaven. It was His power that raised Jesus from the dead. It is His power that enables the new birth, and it is His power that energizes the Christian to live their destiny. In addition to the new birth, Jesus will baptize a Christian with Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is God’s greatest gift to a believer. He imparts a treasure trove of gifts and fruits, including a personal prayer language known as “tongues.”
John 14:16, 17, John 16:13, Acts 2:38, Galatians 5:22, 1 Corinthians 12, 1 Corinthians 14:2,4, 1 Corinthians 2:12

The Holy Trinity

The God of the Bible exists as three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Three-Person God is referred to as “the Godhead” and “the Trinity.” Each Person of the Godhead is a unique Person however They exist as one God.
Gen. 1:26; Matt. 28:19; Deut. 6:4; Heb.1:1-5

Jesus Christ the Son

Jesus, the Son of God, was active in the earth during the New Testament books Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Born of a virgin (prophesied long before his birth), He is both 100% God and 100% man. Jesus is referred to as the “Son of God” and the “Son of Man.” Like God the Father, Jesus Christ has many names and He (or His sacrificial death) is mentioned, in some way, in every book of the Bible. Jesus was born to be the sin-bearer of humanity and the blood He shed in his death cleanses all sin for all people for all time.
Isaiah 7:14, 1 John 5:20, Matthew 14:33, Matthew 9:6, John 3:16, 17, Isaiah 53:6, Hebrews 1:1-13, Mark 1:11
